Enjoy a flaky, golden buttery ham and cheese croissant filled with savory ham and melted cheese. This easy-to-make breakfast treat combines the perfect balance of rich butter, melty cheese, and flavorful ham for a satisfying start to your day.

Ingredients

Scale

Croissant Base

  • Store-bought or homemade croissant dough (enough for 6-8 croissants)
  • Melted butter for brushing (about 2-3 tablespoons)

Filling

  • 68 slices of ham (smoked or honey ham recommended)
  • 1 to cups cheese (Swiss, Gruyere, or cheddar), sliced or shredded
  • Optional: 2 tablespoons mustard or béchamel sauce for extra flavor

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough: Roll out your croissant dough on a lightly floured surface and cut it into triangles according to package directions or your homemade dough size.
  2. Add the Ham and Cheese: Place a slice of ham and a generous amount of cheese on the wide end of each dough triangle. Optionally, add a small spoonful of mustard or béchamel sauce for extra flavor.
  3. Roll the Croissants: Starting at the wide end, carefully roll each triangle towards the pointed end, ensuring the filling stays inside and the shape stays tight.
  4. Brush with Butter: Brush the tops and sides of each croissant with melted butter to enhance crispiness and promote a golden brown finish.
  5. Bake Until Golden and Melty: Place the croissants on a lined baking sheet. Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 15-20 minutes or until puffed, golden brown, and the cheese is melted inside.

Notes

  • Use cold dough to maintain flakiness during assembly.
  • Don’t overfill croissants to prevent leaks and ensure proper rolling.
  • Brush generously with melted butter for the best browning and texture.
  • Preheat the oven fully before baking to ensure even cooking and puffiness.
  • Let croissants rest a few minutes after baking for perfect melty texture.
