Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 1 package Impossible Burger (about 12 oz)
  • 1 pre-made pie crust (buttery and flaky)
  • 1½ cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 3 tablespoons vegan Worcestershire sauce (or regular if preferred)
  • ¼ cup chopped dill pickles
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Optional Toppings

  • Shredded lettuce
  • Tomato slices

Optional Variations Ingredients

  • Chopped jalapeños or cayenne pepper for spice
  • Vegan cheese and dairy-free pie crust for dairy-free version
  • Diced bell peppers, mushrooms, or spinach for extra veggies
  • Gluten-free pie crust as a substitute for traditional crust
  • Crispy tempeh bacon or smoked paprika for smoky flavor substitute

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Filling: Sauté diced onions and minced garlic in a bit of oil over medium heat until fragrant and translucent. Add the Impossible Burger, breaking it up with a spoon, and cook until browned. Stir in tomato paste, vegan Worcestershire sauce, paprika, black pepper, and salt. Let the mixture cook together for a few minutes to blend the flavors, then remove from heat and drain any excess moisture.
  2. Preheat the Oven and Prepare the Crust: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Roll out the pie crust gently and place it into a pie dish, trimming edges neatly for a clean finish.
  3. Assemble the Pie: Spread half of the Impossible Burger filling evenly in the prepared pie crust. Layer a generous handful of shredded sharp cheddar cheese followed by chopped dill pickles. Add the remaining filling on top, then finish with another layer of shredded cheese to achieve that melty cheeseburger texture.
  4. Bake Until Golden: Place the assembled pie in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbling and lightly crisped on top.
  5. Cool and Garnish: Allow the pie to cool for a few minutes before slicing. Garnish with fresh shredded lettuce and tomato slices if desired to mimic classic cheeseburger toppings.

Notes

  • Drain any excess moisture from the cooked Impossible Burger to prevent a soggy filling.
  • Do not overfill the pie crust to avoid spillover and uneven baking.
  • Use sharp cheddar cheese for richer flavor and better melting.
  • Let the pie chill for about 10 minutes before slicing to set the filling and make cleaner slices.
  • For firmer texture in the filling, mix in crushed crackers or breadcrumbs.
