Ingredients

Scale

Cookie Dough

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour (or gluten-free baking mix)
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder

Slime Filling

  • 1/2 cup fruit jam or jelly (choose thicker jams like blueberry, strawberry, or lemon curd)
  • Gel food coloring (neon green, blood red, or other vibrant Halloween colors)

Optional Decorations

  • Edible glitter
  • Spooky sprinkles
  • Light icing drizzle
  • Powdered sugar
  • Tiny candy eyes

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Cookie Dough: Cream together the unsalted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth and fluffy. Add the eggs and vanilla extract, mixing until fully combined. Gradually incorporate the all-purpose flour and baking powder, mixing until a soft dough forms. Chill the dough for at least 30 minutes to make it easier to handle.
  2. Prepare the Slime Filling: Select your preferred fruit jam or jelly for the filling. Mix the jam with gel food coloring to create bright, eerie colors like neon green or blood red. Set aside.
  3. Shape the Cookies: Divide the dough into small balls roughly the size of a walnut. Flatten each ball slightly, then place a small spoonful of the colored slime mixture in the center. Carefully encase the filling with more dough, pinching the edges tightly to seal completely and prevent oozing during baking.
  4. Bake to Perfection: Arrange the filled cookie dough balls on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 12-15 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely, helping the slime set inside.
  5. Add Final Touches: Once cooled, optionally decorate the cookies with edible glitter, spooky sprinkles, a light drizzle of icing, powdered sugar, or tiny candy eyes to enhance the Halloween theme.

Notes

  • Keep the slime filling chilled before shaping to minimize leaking.
  • Seal cookie edges tightly around the filling to prevent slime from oozing out during baking.
  • Choose thicker jams or jellies, as they hold their shape better when baked.
  • Always bake on parchment paper to prevent sticking and ease cleanup.
  • Gel food coloring provides richer, more vivid slime colors compared to liquid food dye.
